The North East Cultural Partnership (NECP) is currently in the process of developing the ‘Case for Culture’ (C4C), which will set out an ambitious vision for cultural development in the region over the next 15 years, informed and shaped by people living, working and creating in the region.

The North East Cultural Partnership has identified Dance City, the National Dance Agency for the North East, based in Newcastle and TINArts, a professional contemporary dance company and dance inclusion organisation based in County Durham, to lead the Case for Culture consultation with the dance sector in the region.

This role includes:
convening a debate on behalf of the dance sector by the end of February 2015
acting as ambassadors on behalf of the dance sector in the region for the C4C

We would like to invite you to get involved and there are two ways you can do this:- Join us for an open discussion on Thursday 26 February or take part in our online consultation by completing a quick 10-15 minute survey.

The Case for Culture – due for completion in June 2015 – will focus particularly on arts and heritage, also exploring important connections with tourism, sport and the creative industries. It will imagine what the region’s cultural infrastructure and programming could look like fifteen years from now, building on our strengths and all that makes the North East so distinctive.

The Case for Culture will be an important tool in helping to drive investment in culture in the North East, recognising our sector’s significant potential for growth. It will look at what culture has to offer the region, considering the economy, health and wellbeing, sense of place and communities – as well as future ambitions for 2030 and what practical things are needed, over and above further funding, to make this vision a reality.
