This professional contemporary class aims to prepare the body and mind through a mixture of set sequences and creative, improvisational tasks. We will be exploring how the use of imagery and characterisation can influence movement created and the dynamic qualities it is performed. We hope to give an insight to the creative and choreographic tools we are currently exploring therefore expect the space to be creative, playful and sweaty.
About the artists:
Ellis, originally from Newcastle is a professional dance artist working in London and the North East. She has performed works by Crystal Pite, Alexander Whitley, Renaud Wiser, Mathieu Geffré and toured nationally and internationally with multiple dance companies including Tony Adigun’s Avant Garde Dance and Shaper/Caper.
Anders is a london based actor, movement director and model who has performed in films for NOWNESS, Burberry, Guilt (BBC), Life After Life (BBC) Vigil (BBC), Run (BFI) among others.
Together, Anders and Ellis are a creative team who have collaborated on multiple projects over the past 11 years. First choreographing together during their time at London Contemporary Dance School, their curiosity for developing a movement language together grew and has been something they have invested in whilst gaining professional experience as individual performing artists. Combining their skills in acting, dance, story-telling and movement directing; Anders and Ellis are now collaborating on bigger projects together and exploring movement and text in unique and theatrical ways.
