It has been a wet and windy start to the month this July in the North East, but that hasn’t stopped Dance City from bringing the joy of dance to our community. Lets take a look at what is to come this month and how you can get involved.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

We have already had a kicker start to the month with our Tai Chi workshops with James Carrs which have been a huge success. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on what comes next! 👀

Andy Gardiner held a fitness workshop – Homotiv8 – this week – an inclusive dance and bodyweight fitness program designed to create a safe, fun, and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our DANCE CITY YOUTH COMPANY auditions are just around the corner, taking place on the 14 July, this weekend. Dance City’s Youth Company is an opportunity for young dancers aged 11-17 to develop their dance skills with a dedicated group, and rehearse pieces for performance at a range of showcase events. Based on a foundation of Contemporary Dance. To find out more visit the webpage here.

Our Summer Camps, which take place next month are also being planned this month. With themes Best of The West End and Dance Around The World, we can’t wait to welcome everyone for 5 whole days of dance and fun! For children aged 5-16 years old, with no dance experience necessary, we are looking forward to welcoming all the children and young people to Dance City this August. To find dates and more information, visit the link for Dance Around The World here and Best Of The West End here.

We have NEW classes coming next term which are now bookable for members. With NEW classes and workshops including Blues Dance and Zumba, there is something suited to everyone. We will reveal more on our social media soon!

We are so excited to see what the students have been working on this year and celebrate everything they have achieved with their friends and family in attendance.

DANCE AROUND THE NE

The North-East is full of exciting arts events, shows, talks and much much more and we love to celebrate the arts in the North.

Durham Fringe Festival is taking place July 24-28 with three new performance spaces. Bringing an exciting new focus on dance and movement-based work, this year, the festival partners with Dance City to enhance its dance offerings in response to audience feedback. We are thrilled to support the festival, providing the Fringe team with advice, guidance, and support in circulating calls for expressions of interest to perform. Additionally, Dance City’s own company, Boundless, will be performing at the festival! To read a more in-depth article about the Durham Fringe Festival, please find our article here.
