About
Alleyne Dance presents, Far From Home, a new dance production that explores the topic of immigration and the consequences the search for 'a better life' has for those forced to seek it due to social or political devastation. Far From Home is a must-see for dance lovers from all walks of life. The show is a vibrant mix of contemporary, hip hop and street dance. The performance celebrates the diversity of cultures, identities, and backgrounds. It explores immigrants who are forced to seek refuge and the challenges they face due to social or political devastation. Through movement, music, and storytelling, the show will leave audiences inspired. The performance is a hard hitting, atmospheric, abstract narrative dance production.
Performed by 6 professional dance artists and a supporting cast made up of non-professional movers recruited from the local community, the performance ensemble will highlight the emotional and mental stresses of migrant families, as well as the impact on communities where migrants “settle”, as we unpick the meaning of tolerance and practice of integration."
Alleyne Dance is made up of sisters Kristina and Sadé Alleyne who's choreography often reflects the duos athletic training. Sadé and Kristina's first dance experience was through Hip Hop, and they later studied at the BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology School and Northern School of Contemporary Dance and performed with the Akram Khan Company at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.
