State of Grace will be working on their new Dance City commission ‘Silver Dog’. The Deep South, US. Mississippi Basin, early-fall 1980. Two young sisters set out on an extraordinary journey – an escape from a horror and across America to the tenement blocks and freezing nightlife of a New York winter. One dreams of freedom, one dreams of a magical silver dog – guide, friend, mentor. Or so she thinks.
Part rite-of-passage, part road movie, State of Grace is delighted to be developing this new, ambitious work with the commissioning support of Dance City. Setting two performers against a vast cycloramic film and an immersive sound score, Silver Dog will be a blend of intense physicality, acute storytelling and emotional transformation.
