Class description:
Classical Ballet builds strength throughout the whole body and helps improve flexibility. Dance City offers high quality, fun classes with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, without the pressure of exams.
What to expect
The class will run as follows:
1.) Full warm up at the barre.
2.) Adage, Pirourettes, Allegro
3.) Cool down.
Full ballet terminology will be used in the lesson.
Each exercise is created to physically work the entire body, and will also enhance your memory retention. The class is designed to develop many skills including balance, co-ordination, strength and flexibility, muscle tone, stamina and fitness.
Who is it for? Adults of all ages, with some ballet experience. What should I wear? Comfortable clothing, nothing too loose. Ballet shoes or socks.
What do I need to bring? Something to tie your hair back if you have long hair.
Teacher: Alex Mitchinson
After graduating from Laine Theatre Arts Alex worked as a dancer in Musical Theatre, TV, Film and as a commercial dancer and model for 12 years. Alex moved into teaching and Choreography, working with Ballet Lorent company, Northumbria University, Dance City, and delivering Lyrical, Ballet, Tap and Contemporary workshops throughout the North East region, and in 2009 Alex qualified as an Advanced Pilates Instructor.
