Eliot Smith
Eliot Smith of Eliot Smith Dance will be leading the perfect class for dancers looking to develop their physicality and explore the depth of human emotion through movement.
Based on the technique created by modern dance legend and choreographer Martha Graham, this class focuses on the core principles of Contraction, Release, Spiral, Breath, and Shift of Weight.
The class is divided into three distinct sections: Floorwork, Standing, and Travelling Movement Sequences. Each section will offer a chance to dive deeper into these key principles while building strength, flexibility, and expression.
Expect to be challenged—but more importantly, expect to have fun!
Alyssa Lisle
Alyssa's class will work through elements of partnering and choreography, inspired by her training in Ballroom and Latin American. The class will explore the origins of the main dances with a contemporary twist, focusing on technique, dynamics and performance of contact work.
Payal Ramchandani
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Kuchipudi, a South Indian classical dance style renowned for its rhythmic footwork and intricate hand gestures.
Led by Payal Ramchandani, this workshop offers participants a deep dive into the technical aspects of Kuchipudi, focusing on the coordination of precise footwork with the storytelling power of expressive gestures (mudras). Starting off with a guided warm-up, each day to prepare the body and mind, participants will explore the foundational vocabulary of Kuchipudi, including dynamic rhythms, nuanced facial expressions, and detailed hand movements. The sessions will also include learning a sequence from Payal's latest work Just Enough Madness, blending tradition with contemporary narrative elements.
Harriet Carr
These Hip Hop classes are planned to teach authentic Hip Hop and inform students on the importance of its culture. We will cover a range of Hip Hop techniques and use different methods and tasks to drill them so the students gain a full understanding of the groove and bounce. We will build a piece of choreography using the techniques learnt and work on pick up speed, musicality and performance.
