About
Class description: Blues dancing is an African-American social dance which developed alongside blues music - and there’s so much depth and variety to the music, which also influences the style of the dance. We’ll be partner dancing, ranging from a close ‘hug’ hold, to just grooving alongside our dance partner. We don’t gender roles, so everyone learns to lead and follow. You don’t need to turn up with a partner as you’ll learn with others in the class. It’s a relaxed dance which is more about moving to the music, than learning specific ‘moves’.
Who is it for? Adults of all ages. No previous experience needed.
What should I wear? Anything comfortable. Shoes with flat or low heels that have a slippery sole, or even bring a pair of walking socks and dance in those.
Teacher: Melissa Davy (www.hoodooblues.dance)
About the teacher
