About
Class description: This is a more challenging Ballet class, in a friendly and fun environment. Develop from the basic steps to more challenging phrases. This class will explore more centre work than our other Ballet classes, focusing on learning a choreographed phrase to music every three weeks. Dance City offers high quality, fun classes with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, without the pressure of exams.


Who is it for:? Adults of all ages, with some ballet experience and knowledge of basic Ballet terminology.


What should I wear:? Something you can move comfortably in. Ballet shoes are recommended but not necessary, socks are fine.


Teacher: Amy Becke

Amy gained her BA Hons degree from Ballet West Scotland in 2019. During her time at the school, Amy was offered an apprenticeship with the Ballet West Scotland Touring Company where she travelled to Malaysia to perform Swan Lake. Amy also completed her RAD vocational exams receiving a high distinction in her Advanced Two. Amy then went on to study for a year at Ballet Cymru on their pre-professional programme, before moving back home to South Shields to complete her Masters here at Dance City. Since graduating, Amy has worked with North East based companies as a freelance dancer and performance Artist.

Amy's Ballet classes are influenced by her varied training. Studying mainly in Ballet, learning the Royal Academy of Dance and Vaganova Methods, before focusing on Contemporary and Physical Theatre styles. Over the last two and a half years teaching in the Northeast, Amy has developed an outline for her classes which values strength, support and enjoyment.
