Gateshead College has achieved an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection report, placing it at the forefront of further education (FE) and demonstrating it is leading the way on the Government’s skills agenda.
Dance City and Gateshead College collaboratively run two Dance courses – Level 3 Dance and BA Hons in Dance Professional Practice, the latter validated by Northumbria University.
The Ofsted report highlighted that many students are inspired by the opportunities presented by partnerships with prestigious venues such as Sage Gateshead, Dance City and Baltic.
Anthony Baker, Artistic Director and Joint CEO of Dance City said:
“We’re extremely proud to be a key strategic partner of Gateshead College, and we work tirelessly together to ensure our dance courses are of the highest industry standard and that they thoroughly prepare students for future employment opportunities. This comes soon after student Connor Scott was announced BBC Young dancer 2015, and is another major endorsement of the quality of the dance courses we run together.”
Judith Doyle, principal and chief executive, said: “I am very proud of this outstanding achievement. This is a fantastic result, not only for us and our students, but also for parents in the region who are looking for a college performing at the very highest level.
“The Ofsted team praised the college’s outstanding partnerships with employers and business organisations like Dance City. These unique collaborations put our students in the best possible position to secure work when they leave us or continue in education and progress to university.”
