INSPIRE FESTIVAL
We have had a fantastic weekend with our Inspire Festival taking place as Dance City with a host of taster classes for 55+. We hope to open dancing to everyone, creating safe spaces and exploring the joy of dance. On the 12 October there will be performances at Queen’s Hall Hexham that celebrates dance and aging as part of the Inspire festival – you can check their website for more info and tickets. There will be a Blue’s taster classes, dance performances and dance film viewings for all those who attend.

Bhangra

Bhangra is a vibrant and energetic folk dance from Punjab, India, characterised by lively Punjabi music and dynamic movements. Participants can expect a fun-filled session where they will learn basic Bhangra steps and enjoy a fantastic cardio workout that boosts both fitness and mood. No prior dance experience is necessary—just come ready to move and have a great time!
Thriller Dance Workshop

Dance City Artistic Director & CEO Anand Bhatt invites you to participate in a Halloween special workshop to Thriller. Over 90 minutes you will be taught the steps for the Zombie dance break featured in the iconic music video.
We invite you to dress up like a Zombie for the workshop if you wish, and hope by the end all who attend will perform the whole routine which will be lots of fun to learn and dance!
The workshop is a fundraiser for Dance City. We are making a token charge for the workshop of £1 to make it accessible for everyone. There is also an option to donate when booking online as well as on the evening of the event.
We hope to use proceeds from the event to help young people and their families visit the theatre at Dance City and to eat at The Seven Bridges whilst here. Any remaining funds will be directed into Dance City’s continual community outreach and engagement work.
This workshop is for all ages, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult
FRAGMENTS OF POE – DORA FRANKEL DANCE WORKSHOP

In this workshop we’ll explore how to generate movement, inspired by some of the most iconic tales written by the master of Gothic horror, Edgar Allan Poe. Stories will include The Man of the Crowd, The Strange Case of M. Waldemar and The Descent into the Maelstrom – stories and themes that are perennially relevant.
Perfect for both experienced movers and novices – all you need is curiosity!
HALLOWEEN DANCE CAMP

We are so excited to be bringing back our fright-tastic dance camp this October half term! From Thriller to The Monster Mash, join us for a scarily good time. We will be focusing on all street dance styles including Hip hop, locking, popping, house and breaking alongside the children getting creative themselves! The dance camp is for all children aged 6-12 years old and runs from the 28 October – 31 October, during October half-term.
