We’re excited to announce that we are running two careers days at Dance City this November.
Both free to attend events feature a series of exciting workshops where you’ll hear from experts from across the industry.
Wednesday 15 November
The first, on Wednesday 15 November, is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 18 who may be currently training or studying dance and want to know more about future careers.
When booking a place each attendee can bring along one parent/guardian/carer.
Working in the Arts with Phil Douglas and Izaak Gledhill of Curious Arts
In this workshop, Phil and Izaak will share their wisdom, and speak about what careers there could be in store for you in the arts.

Dreaming BIG with Bryony Taylor, Theatre Producer
Through storytelling and discussion, this workshop will help you to map out your dreams and ambitions; and imagine how they might come true.

This is a “speed networking” style session, where you’ll meet a variety of arts professionals face-to-face, in an informal setting.

Thursday 16 November
The second event, on Thursday 16 November, is for adults (16+) about to embark on a career in the arts sector and those considering an arts degree or further training.
Portfolio Arts Careers with Bryony Taylor, Theatre Producer
What does a freelancer do? This session will think about how you might sustain a career in dance: what other careers might support you, and how might you diversify your skillset to sustain a career in dance.

Being a Performer with Lizzie Klotz
Learn about what a career is like as a dancer. Ask a performer about the ups and the downs, hear their pathway into the arts, and get their tips and tricks for a getting into dance.

Technical Careers with Nick Rogerson, Technical Manager
Learn about a career in lighting, sound, and the technical side of theatre. Hear what it is like to work with artists and what roles exist to help them facilitate their performances.

Meet our Artistic Director, Anand Bhatt
In this workshop Anand will share his experience working with dance companies, and his tale of becoming an Artistic Director.
