The summer is well under way, the sun is shining most days and we get to see Breaking in the Olympics next week! And although classes at Dance City are on break until September, there is still plenty happening at Dance City!
CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Our Summer Camps are well under way this month and we are super excited to see what everyone has been working on. There are two these this year, Dance Around The World and Best of the West End. Our summer camps encourage children to get involved in dance and movement and have fun whilst doing so! The camps create friendships, boost confidence and teach the children new skills.
Last Friday we had a fantastic time down the Quayside in Newcastle with NE1 and Alex Rowland who hosted a Breaking session for Summer In The City! The event was well attended by lots of little Breakers who also got to speak to Hits Radio about Breaking being in the Olympics! The Hits Radio interview will air this week before the 9 August, so keep an ear out for that!
CREATIVE SUMMER 2024
Our Creative Summer 2024 dance artists have been in the Dance City building this week and will be until the 6 September. The Creative Summer Residency programme exists to support dance artists regionally and nationally in developing single or collaborative ideas involving choreography, dance and movement. We have done full introductions of those chosen to partake in Creative Summer this year over on our Instagram @dance_city_newcastle. There was a selection of sharings from Rose Macari, Beth Veitch, Pelican Theatre, Emma King and Cora-Jay Williams this past Friday and there will be other Creative Summer sharings going forward, including Peter Groom and Kat Willrett this Friday.
