About Youth Dance England

Youth Dance England (YDE) is the national agency which aims to connect young people with dance. YDE strives for every young person across the country to have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of high quality dance.

YDE has created a regional network of Youth Dance Strategic Managers across England to increase opportunities for young people to engage in dance. Dance City have chosen to work with TIN Arts, a north east arts development company based in Durham and led by Programme Director, Martin Wilson.

EXCITING NEW BRANDING!

All of the work undertaken by the Youth Dance Strategy Team, based at Dance City, now comes under the umbrella of the North East Youth Dance Network.

As we further develop our regional infrastructure of six Youth Dance Hubs across the region, the North East Youth Dance Network will grow and reach out to all those wishing to engage with or support youth dance, wherever you are.

Whenever you see the red and white logo at the top of the page, you'll know that Dance City are working in your area with local partners to ensure that young people have access to high quality, meaningful youth dance activity.

YDE STRIDE!

YDE Stride! is aimed at young people with an entrepreneurial spirit and creative problem-solving skills. It offers the rare opportunity to participate in an action-packed residential, devise projects with skilled and professional guidance, and develop experience and knowledge of the dance sector through a placement and support of a mentor.

YDE Stride! is a national YDE initiative delivered by 3 different hosts across England: Dance4, Dance South West, and East London Dance in partnership with Sadler’s Wells. Participants will be allocated one of these hosts based on their application and location. Find out more about the hosts’ respective programmes and download the application form here.

U.DANCE

Following four fantastic years of National Youth Dance Festivals, Youth Dance England is returning to the West Midlands to present it's new national dance platform: U.Dance England 2010.

On Sunday 4th July 2010 the Birmingham Hippodrome will see the flagship performance for the U.Dance programme. This exciting event will showcase exceptional dance performances by young people aged 11-19 from across the country.

We will be holding a regional performance to choose one group to represent the North East at the national dance platform. Our qualifying round will take place on Saturday 27th February 2010 at Dance City.

YOUNG CREATIVES

YDE Young Creatives is a Youth Dance England programme aimed at choreographers aged 15-19. Successful applicants are provided with mentoring, residential workshops and seminars, and phenomenal performance opportunities.
